Hygiene

Standards

Please find below our Hygiene Standards for Jean Jacques Machado BJJ Melbourne. These rules are non-negotiable and must be adhered to all times while on the mat. We pride ourselves in being a clean and hygienic club and wish to maintain a high standard.

  1. Please ensure your Gi/No Gi gear is washed after every class and is clean prior to wearing it again. If for any reason you do not have a clean uniform, please speak to your coach to borrow one. Any students who do not have a clean uniform will not be able to participate.

  2. Good personal hygiene is not only important for you, but also your training partner. Please ensure you have showered/are clean before coming to class.

  3. Shoes must be worn in the bathroom at all times. Thongs are provided outside the bathroom door. Please also ensure you wash your hands.

  4. Nails must be kept short; this is to ensure they do not get ripped off or scratch/cut your training partner.

  5. If you are unwell, please be courteous and do not come to training.

  6. All open wounds need to be properly covered with dressings that will not come off during class. Please do not use Band-Aids unless they are secured with tape. All dressings must be changed prior to your next class. If you are managing an abrasion or wound please bring your own tape/band aids etc.

  7. Skin Infections – The most common skin infection is ringworm and staphylococcus. If you suspect you have something, please speak to your coach for advice on what to do. Do not step on to the mat if you suspect you have any type of skin infection and its best to remain at home until it is resolved.

  8. If you are bleeding on the mat, please let your coach know and clean this straight away.

  9. Long hair needs to be tied back and free from any pins/clips

  10. Always think of your training partner and those around you, if something is unpleasant to you, chance is, it is unpleasant to them!
